Song #7 By Your Side - Music and Lyrics by Drew Sorrells

Been driving that old car for 32 years,

you were ready to find a new home.

So you drove to that oh so familiar place

where you're cared for, loved, and warmed.

To meet an old familiar friend,

who you see every now and then.

I saw your sweet face across the terrace way

your eyes looked like windows to my heart.

Our secret conversation,

was some rare from of art.

And my thoughts became yours,

and your love wrapped around my core.

I was dreaming, we were married,

traveling far away, finding new ways,

new ways.

We met at your familiar place,

had wine and a bite to eat.

Our words were like a magic dance

and philosophy was deep.

Mm, mm it's those eyes.

Your eyes look like mine.

You were dreaming of making love,

your arms around me,

holding our love, though eternity.

A week went by we walked on the creek,

you told me you left your wife.

My heart leaped out in disbelief

and I told you not to cry.

I'll be by your side,

I know I'll be by your side,

always by your side,

you know I'll be by your side.
